Andreas Schmid Group acquires Weisstrans and expands its portfolio

Gersthofen, May 28, 2026. Effective June 1, the Andreas Schmid Group is acquiring Weisstrans Logistik GmbH, strategically expanding its service portfolio to include walking-floor transport for the waste management industry as well as the transport of bulk materials. With this acquisition, the Group is consistently pursuing its strategic growth trajectory while further strengthening its diversification strategy in the transport business.
Previously part of the Gröger Recycling Group, Weisstrans Logistik GmbH is bringing not only its specialized in-house fleet but also an experienced team of drivers and commercial employees with extensive expertise in walking-floor transport to the Andreas Schmid Group. The acquisition will increase the Andreas Schmid Group’s in-house fleet by around ten percent.
Expansion of the product portfolio
Weisstrans Logistik GmbH specializes in walking-floor transport for the waste management sector and has many years of experience in transporting bulk materials. In addition to domestic transport services, the company also operates international routes to Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. Weisstrans is also certified as a specialized waste management company.
“With the acquisition of Weisstrans, we are strategically expanding our portfolio to include another important segment,” explains Thomas Schledorn, Executive Board Member of the Andreas Schmid Group. “Demand for flexible transport solutions in the waste management and bulk materials sectors continues to grow.”
Gröger Recycling Group further sharpens its focus
The sale of Weisstrans Logistik GmbH is also part of the Gröger Recycling Group’s new strategic direction. Going forward, the company will focus more strongly on customer-oriented, regionally focused business and on further developing its existing core competencies. Long-distance transport operations beyond the region, and specialized walking-floor transport in particular, involve different requirements in terms of fleet management, technical specifications, investment needs and operational processes compared with local transport operations.
Synergies within the Andreas Schmid fleet
There is significant potential in combining Weisstrans with the Andreas Schmid Group’s existing in-house fleet. “The expansion of our fleet builds on the very solid foundation of our transport organization,” explains Konrad Wenninger, Managing Director of Andreas Schmid Spedition. “With our own fleet, our existing vehicle expertise and our in-house workshop, we have the ideal conditions for the maintenance-intensive walking-floor business.”
Experience and industry expertise
With André Winklhofer, the Andreas Schmid Group is also gaining an experienced manager with industry-specific expertise. He and the Andreas Schmid Group have maintained a professional and personal exchange within the industry for many years.
“André Winklhofer brings many years of experience in the waste management sector as well as a deep understanding of our customers’ requirements,” says Wenninger. “We are very pleased to welcome him and his team to the Andreas Schmid Group.”
Strengthening the market position
With the acquisition, the Andreas Schmid Group is strengthening its position as a provider of customized transport and logistics solutions and further expanding its market presence in both domestic and international transport.
